Former Big Brother Naija housemate Natacha Akide, popularly known as Tacha, has broken her silence following her recent arrest over an alleged N5 million fraud case.
The reality TV star was arrested at her Lagos residence on Sunday, August 30, after reportedly failing to honour invitations from the police over the allegation.
However, Tacha has now come forward to give her own side of the story, firmly denying the fraud allegation and insisting that she has never had any dealings with the woman at the centre of the controversy.
According to the reality star, the issue began after a social media user identified as Olajide (@joph007_) accused her of collecting N5 million from a woman who was seeking financial assistance for her husband’s kidney transplant.
Tacha said she was surprised by the allegation, particularly because, according to her, she had never spoken to the woman who was allegedly defrauded.
“I have never spoken to the woman in question before. Somebody just came online and accused me of collecting N5 million from a woman who is seeking financial assistance for her sick husband. Meanwhile I have never spoken to the woman before,” Tacha said.
The BBNaija star also shared screenshots of some of the posts made by Olajide, describing the comments directed at her as derogatory. She particularly took issue with remarks allegedly questioning her character, including being called “Ashawo.”
As the allegation gained traction on social media, the matter reportedly escalated and eventually attracted the attention of the police.
Tacha explained that her legal team initially approached the matter from a civil angle before it later moved into a criminal investigation.
Despite the development, the reality star maintained that the N5 million fraud allegation is completely false.
She also stated that she is cooperating with the authorities as the matter is being investigated and is confident that the situation will eventually be resolved.
For now, the controversy continues to generate reactions online, with many fans and social media users waiting to see how the investigation will unfold.
Tacha, meanwhile, appears determined to fight the allegation and clear her name.
