Sometimes, the things we go through at a young age only make sense when we look back years later.

Nigerian singer Fola has given fans a glimpse into his humble beginnings after sharing an old staff identity card from his first job in 2016.

The throwback is particularly striking because Fola was only 15 years old when he worked as a factory worker. At that point, there was probably no way he could have imagined where life would eventually take him.

Fast-forward ten years, and everything looks different.

Fola is now pursuing music, and according to him, it is music that God used to completely change the direction of his life.

Sharing the old ID card on Instagram, Fola reflected on the journey and how his younger self could never have predicted what was ahead.

He wrote:

“15-year-old Folarin had no idea that 10 years later, he’d look back at his ID card from his first job in 2016 and realise that music would be the very thing God would use to change his life.”

That post says a lot without needing too many words.

The ID card represents a version of Fola that was simply trying to find his way at just 15. Today, he can look back at that same young boy and see how much his story has changed.

From a teenage factory worker to finding purpose and a new path through music, Fola’s journey is one of those stories that reminds you that your current situation does not necessarily determine where you will end up.

And this is probably why the throwback has touched so many people online. Sometimes, you don’t know you’re living the beginning of your story until you look back years later.

For Fola, that old factory ID card has now become more than just an old document — it’s a reminder of how far he has come.
